Officer attacked at Samancor mine

RUSTENBURG - A policeman was attacked with a panga at a protest outside the Samancor mine in Mooinooi in the North West on Tuesday.
Authorities said officers tried to disperse a group of miners when the demonstration turned violent.
The miners at Samancor have been on a wage strike at the mine for three weeks.
The policeman fell to the ground when one of the protesters tried to attack his head.
He was struck on his hand when he defended himself.
