R203m for Zuma home upgrade

2012-09-30 14:42
Nkandla homestead.
Nkandla homestead.

Johannesburg - The Democratic Alliance (DA) wants the public protector to probe allegations that R203m of taxpayers' money would be used in the revamping of President Jacob Zuma's iNkandla homestead, the party said on Sunday.
"Reports that the department of public works will be spending millions on Zuma’s private homestead is a serious abuse of taxpayers’ money by a department which is failing in almost every other key responsibility," DA Parliamentary leader Lindiwe Mazibuko said in a statement.

"This expenditure by public works represents a serious confusion by the president and the minister of public works as to what the pressing priorities for South Africa are," she added.

The DA's outrage came after a report in the City Press stated that Zuma would only be footing five percent of the bill, which amounted to around R10.6m.

Previous reports suggested that Zuma would pay for most of the revamping.

"[We] will not allow for this to go unanswered," said Mazibuko.

She said she wanted the public protector to investigate whether the money for the project had not been transferred from other projects that needed the funds.

The party also criticised the fact that the residence would be a private home and would not remain the state's property.

The City Press reported that the budget for the revamp was approved by the public works department in March last year.

According to the paper, Durban's public works regional manager Kenneth Khanyile wrote a memorandum last year to the then minister of public works, Gwen Mahlangu-Nkabinde saying their head office had assisted in apportioning costs between the department and Zuma.

Khanyile had reportedly informed Mahlangu-Nkabinde that they had already spent funds on certain building aspects which were initially meant to be catered for by Zuma.

"[Zuma] may want to implement these issues himself without the interference of the department or else he may want to opt to reimburse the department the same," Khanyile's memorandum was quoted as saying.

The presidency referred the City Press to the department of public works for answers, but the department refused to give comment.

The "handling of information for this residence is protected in terms of the 1982 Protection of Information Act", the department's acting director-general Mandisa Fatyela-Lindie was quoted as saying.
The revamped house would contain 10 air conditioned rooms, underground living quarters, a clinic for Zuma and his family, 10 houses for security personnel, a helipad, houses for air force and police units, underground parking, playgrounds and visitors centres, said the City Press.

Burglars use muti to steal

25 September 2012 | Donald Green
Smoke from the burning of soil mixed with incense, a secret mix of herbs and steel wool, could put people inside a house into a deep sleep in order for criminals to steal their belongings at leisure.
This was revealed to the police by a family from Extension 12 in eMbalenhle when they brought a burnt tin with the mix to the police.
Capt Magonseni Nkosi, Spokesman for the local police, said the family was woken by the smoke in their house last Saturday and found two unknown men inside the house.
“The family did not want to file a case.
“It will become difficult for us to investigate and arrest people because victims do not open a case.”
Capt Nkosi, however, said though such cases are not often reported to them, they did confirm that criminals do use such an act to commit crime.
He said criminals burn the mix and within few a minutes of letting the smoke into the house, the occupants fall asleep.
It is believed they will only wake up in the morning.
Capt Nkosi urged residents to be aware of such acts and keep their doors locked and to never open the doors to strangers at night.
“The festive season is nearing and people will buy goods only to find that they are being stolen in this manner.”

14 Signs That The World Economy Is Getting Weaker

The United States is not the only one with massive economic problems right now. The truth is that just about wherever you look around the globe things are getting even worse.

Protest in Spain

China is experiencing a substantial economic slowdown, and Japan has resorted to yet another round of money printing in an effort to keep the Japanese economy moving. Unemployment in Europe continues to get even worse, and the riots this week in Spain and in Greece have been absolutely frightening at times.

In the United States there are a whole host of signs that another recession is approaching, and the number of American CEOs that say that they plan to eliminate jobs in the coming months is rapidly rising. So hold on to your seat belts - it is going to be a bumpy ride.

The following are 14 signs from around the globe that the world economy is getting weaker....

#1 Things in China do not look good right now. The Shanghai Composite index fell to its lowest point in over 3 years earlier this week. Will the S&P 500 soon follow suit?

#2 The Bank of Japan has resorted to yet another round of money printing in a desperate attempt to try to bolster the faltering Japanese economy.

#3 In Spain, violent demonstrations over the state of the Spanish economy just outside the national Parliament building in Madrid on Tuesday evening made headlines all over the globe.

#4 As unemployment hovers around the 25 percent mark, foraging through garbage bins for food has become so rampant in Spain that one city has actually started putting locks on supermarket garbage bins "as a public health precaution".

#5 Despite all of the money printing that the ECB has been doing, the yield on 10 year Spanish bonds has risen back up to about 6 percent again.

#6 The economic protests in Greece are getting completely and totally out of control.

#7 The unemployment rate in France has risen for 16 months in a row and is now the highest that it has been in over a decade.

#8 As I wrote about recently, the number of unemployed workers in Italy has increased by more than 37 percent over the past year.

#9 New orders for durable goods in the United States fell by a whopping 13.2 percent in August. That was the largest decline that we have seen since the middle of the last recession (January 2009).

#10 According to the Bureau of Economic Analysis, U.S. GDP only grew at a 1.3 percent annual rate during the second quarter of 2012 as opposed to the 1.7 percent annual rate previously reported.

#11 The U.S. Postal Service is about to experience its second financial default in just the past two months.

#12 It looks like General Motors is on a path that will lead to bankruptcy (again).

#13 According to a recent survey conducted by State Street Global Advisors, 71 percent of "investors in a survey of 300 around the world, including the largest pension funds, asset managers and private banks, fear an imminent Lehman-like event."

#14 According to a recent survey of American CEOs by Business Roundtable, the number of CEOs that plan to eliminate jobs has risen significantly from earlier this year.

All over the globe financial authorities are playing all sorts of games in an attempt to keep the system functioning smoothly. But these games are going to steadily undermine confidence in the system, and that is going to prove to be absolutely deadly.

Lies, damned lies and statistics...
To hitch your wagon to someone’s star, lui ’n Engelse gesegde.
Nie geldwassery, bedrog of korrupsie nie.

Petrol price hiked again

Sep 28 2012 13:08 Fin24

Cape Town - Petrol is going up by 21c a litre (93 octane) and 23c/l (95 octane) next Wednesday.

The department of energy said on Friday the increases were due to higher international prices and a weaker rand currency.

I-Net Bridge reports the department also said the price increases between 95 and 93 octane petrol differ due to the quarterly application of the octane price differentials.

The new pump price of 95 grade petrol in Gauteng will increase to R12.20/l.

Motorists at the coast will now have to pay R11.85 for a litre of petrol.

The wholesale diesel price will also go up by 40c to R11.34.

The latest price increase follows this year's highest single price hike of 93c/litre in August.

During the period under review‚ the average rand/dollar exchange rate weakened when compared to the previous period‚ the CEF reported. The average rand/dollar exchange rate for the period August 31 to August 27 was 8.3075 compared to 8.2758 during the previous period.

Last month's increase included a 3.5c/l increase in all grades of petrol. This increase‚ the department said‚ was necessary in order for service station operators to finance the wage increases for service station pump attendants and cashiers agreed upon at the Motor Industry Bargaining Council in September 2010.

Meanwhile, the single maximum national retail price for illuminating paraffin will increase by 44c to R8.67/l.

The maximum retail price for liquid petroleum gas will decrease by 3c per kilogram.

Strike hits other miners

Sep 28 2012 14:27

Johannesburg - Gold miner‚ Village Main Reef [JSE:VIL] on Friday announced that an unprotected strike had started at its Blyvooruitzicht operation in the North Western Province.
It said in a note that the strike prevented Thursday’s night shift as well as Friday’s day shift from taking place and that most of the 1 700 employees forming part of the National Union of Mineworkers’ bargaining unit failed to report for work.
“Management will continue to engage in constructive dialogue with its employees‚ their representatives and other stakeholders with a view to maintaining peace and resolving the strike. Village reserves its right to approach the court for an interdict as this is considered to be an unprotected strike‚” the miner said.
Shares of Village Main Reef fell 6.35% weaker to R1.18.
Underground sit-in

Meanwhile striking mine workers at the Samancor Chrome mine in Mooinooi, Rustenburg were staging an underground sit-in to demand a R12 500 monthly salary, said the Rustenburg Joint Strike Co-ordinating Committee.

"The workers vow to stay underground until the Samancor management meets their demands, which include a R12 500 basic salary," said committee spokesperson Mametlwe Sebei.

In a statement headlined, "Occupation of the mine in demand of a R12 500 basic salary", Sebei said about 400 miners have been underground with no food or water since Thursday.

He claimed that the ventilation had been switched off.

"The mine management has... closed the mine's water supply, in an apparent move to starve and dry (sic) out the workers... we condemn this stance taken by management and urge them to go underground to table an offer."

He said the workers were also upset because the mine would not allow them to hold big gatherings.

"Yesterday, these workers decided to defy that and decided to gather underground at the mine."

Sebei said the organisation would be mobilising community members to gather in the afternoon and demand that the miners be given food and water.

The workers at the chrome mine have vowed to stay underground until management meets their demands, said Sebei.

Additional to the R12 500 demand, workers also wanted a R1500 sleep-out allowance and a R1 500 underground allowance.

Samancor was not immediately available to comment on the matter.

Derby-Lewis se vrou doen aansoek om mediese parool

2012-09-28 13:05

Mev. Derby-Lewis het verlede maand gesê sy sal die dokumente vir die aansoek indien, aangesien haar man aan kanker en gangreen in een been ly.

Mnr. Derby-Lewis (76) is verlede jaar normale parool geweier.

Elderly women brutally raped and murdered

18 September 2012 | Johan Meyer

Six men have been arrested in connection with the brutal rape and murder of two women in Westonaria.
Westonaria police was notified of a house robbery in Edwards Street, Westonaria on 15 September just before 9am and was told on arrival by a neighbour that they received reports of an injured woman in the house.
Police were forced to break the lock to gain entry into the house.
According to Westonaria Police Spokesperson, Constable Thembi Masango, officers were shocked at what they found when they entered the house.
"When they entered the house, they found the body of a woman, later established to be 56-years old, lying on her back in a pool of blood," says Masango.
"Her pyjama trousers were pulled down below her knees and her hands were tied behind her back.
"She had suffered wounds on her left eye and forehead."
Eyewitnesses on the scene told the Herald that the woman had been bludgeoned to death, but police were unable to confirm this.
Masango says that the other occupant of the house, an 86-year-old woman was lucky to survive the attack.
"She was severely assaulted and raped, but luckily not killed," says Masango.
"She was rushed to the Krugersdorp Private Hospital."
According to Masango, police investigations showed that the suspects had stolen the victim's car, jewellery, cellular phones, and other valuables.
Police managed to trace the car to Poortjie near Sebokeng, where one suspect was arrested.
"Officers managed to get the information of all the other suspects and by the end of the day, all six men were in custody and all the stolen goods recovered," says Masango.
The men, all aged between 20 and 53, face charges of house robbery, murder, attempted murder and rape.

Transport strike hits ATMs

Sep 28 2012 16:00Fin24

Cape Town - The transport strike, which is already causing damage to the economy by interrupting delivery of fuel and urgently needed items across all sectors, has now hit banking clients.

Capitec Bank Holdings [JSE:CPI] said in an SMS to clients on Friday that the transport strike is limiting cash to ATMs.

Online retailer Kalahari.net also warned consumers of a delay in purchase deliveries due to the strike.

South Africa has been hit by an often violent strike of about 20 000 workers in the road freight transport sector over wages since September 24.

The South African Express Parcel Association (SAEPA), which strongly condemned the violence and intimidation accompanying the truckers strike, said the labour action is having a huge impact on the economy.

"The strike is interrupting deliveries of fuel and urgently needed items which mining, manufacturing and agriculture rely on to keep the economy growing.

"It is causing lost productivity and lasting damage to the economy.

"It also puts at risk members of the public dependent on express delivery for urgently needed medication and other vital items," said SAEPA.

Capitec advised clients to buy and pay accounts by card as well as draw cash at supermarkets. Although card payments incur no costs, supermarket withdrawals will cost clients R1, no matter how much they draw.

Capitec's SMS reads "buy/pay accounts by card - no fees or get cash @ supermarkets - R1! (limits may apply)".

In its "Truck drivers’ strike notice", Kalahari.net said "the current transport workers’ strike may cause a disruption to our normal delivery. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."

Zuma: SA stuur dalk soldate na Mali

2012-09-28 10:45

Remove Zuma as president, Malema urges

2012-09-26 13:16

Polokwane - Expelled ANCYL president Julius Malema told his supporters on Wednesday that they needed to make sure President Jacob Zuma was not re-elected at the ANC's national conference in Mangaung.
Malema, who was speaking after being officially charged with money laundering at the Polokwane Regional court, and subsequently released on R10 000 bail, said Zuma must be removed as president.
"We must make sure Jacob Zuma does not become president of the ANC," he told supporters.
"Zuma has 700 charges against him. I only have one."

He said Zuma had to be officially charged and arrested.

Innocence
Proclaiming his innocence, Malema said: "Comrades... we are happy our charges are here. We are prepared to answer any questions and every question... because we are not hiding anything," he said.

"Only criminals run away from the court."
He thanked the crowd for its support and for a night vigil held for him on Tuesday.
Malema also thanked his family, and especially his grandmother, who he said continued to receive threats.

"She has always said to me... if you believe in it, continue to fight for it."

He thanked the ANC provincial leadership for supporting him against "politically motivated charges".

"All of you, your efforts are recognised," he said.

He also thanked his lawyer, who he said had represented him despite criticism from other white people.

"They want justice to be served. That is why they took a decision to represent me... and my team will be victorious."

Malema-ondersteuners sing 'skiet Zuma'

2012-09-25 22:46

SANDF in big trouble

GRAEME HOSKEN | 25 September, 2012 00:26

The SA National Defence Force is on the verge of collapse.

With dwindling budgets, an exodus of highly-skilled technical staff and reduced spending on training and equipment, the defence force - according to military experts - can barely meet its constitutional obligations.
Increasing international demands and frequent internal deployments - such as the recent presidential announcement of the deployment of hundreds of troops on crime fighting operations over the next four months - is putting further strain on the already overstretched armed services.
The army has nearly 2000 troops on peacekeeping missions in the Democratic Republic of Congo and Sudan, and military trainers in the Central African Republic and the DRC.
The defence force has military observers deployed under the AU and UN flags in Ethiopia and Eritrea. The navy has a frigate, and air force personnel and aircraft, in the Mozambican channel and Mozambique deployed on anti-piracy operations.
Military analyst Helmoed Heitman said the defence force was now collapsing.
"We have huge sections of the budget spent on salaries, with equipment and training left lacking. We are hopelessly short on manpower - 20000 troops too few - and porous borders that cannot be guarded properly," he said.
"We have pilots who can't fly [sufficient] hours, troops who have been given limits on the amount of ammunition they can use in training, and equipment, such as our frigates, which cannot be maintained because there is no proper budget.
"The defence force is collapsing. If drastic action is not taken soon, in the next three years it will be beyond recovery."
The Defence Department received just over R34-billion last year from the Treasury. Its current budget of R37-billion is expected to increase to R39-billion in the 2013-2014 financial year. Professor Renfrew Christie, dean of research at the University of Western Cape, said the military's budget needed a drastic increase.
"We spend 1% of our gross national product on defence. We need a military capable of looking after our country with the time now coming to increase spending to 2% of GDP," Christie said. "To do our duty, we need a bigger and better equipped military. The option of downscaling our involvement north of our borders is not an option.
"Protecting our country and its borders is far bigger than just putting up fences," he said.
Retired admiral Chris Bennett, the former naval chief of staff, said the massive "poaching" of technical staff had led to numerous crises in the navy.
"Our military, especially on the technical side, is being bled dry by both public and private industries, as well as by foreign militaries.
"Though the navy until now has managed to stay afloat, things are beginning to bite," he said.
"The right funding has not been given to the military [which is] being required more and more by parliament to do things [parliament is] not prepared to pay for.

Die Boere-Afrikaner is nou by Magersfontein. Nou moet daar koelkop gebly word. Nou moet daar geduld gebruik word.

Gold Fields has obtained an urgent interdict against strikes at its operations, the company said on Monday.

"The company has received urgent interdicts for KDC West as well as Beatrix West, and is applying for an interdict for the remainder of the Beatrix mine," said spokesman Willie Jacobsz.
He said the company was evaluating all options to deal with the unlawful strikes.
Workers at KDC West (formerly Driefontein) went on an unprotected strike on September 9, demanding a monthly pay of R12,500 after deductions.
The strike spread to the West Section of Beatrix (formerly Oryx Mine) on Friday, and to the rest of the mine by Monday.
"The large majority of the 15,000 employees at KDC West and 9000 employees at Beatrix are participating in the unlawful strikes, and production has been halted at both operations," said Jacobsz.

Iran threatens to attack US bases if war erupts

Iranian officials say they aren't scared of Israel’s threats of a military assault aimed at their rumored nuclear warhead program, but a senior officer in Iran's Revolutionary Guard says such a strike would warrant retaliation against US bases.
Should Israel make good with its warning of using military force to take down an Iranian nuke procurement plan, Gen. Amir Ali Hajizadeh of Iran’s Revolutionary Guard says that the response will be costly for the United States military, even if America does not endorse a unilateral strike on Iran.
Gen. Hajizadeh explains in a statement this week that America’s continuing support of Israel is enough to associate them with any attack waged against Iran, even if the US has officially condemned any plans to put boots in the ground to dismantle the rumored nuclear program.
"For this reason, we will enter a confrontation with both parties and will definitely be at war with American bases should a war break out," Hajizadeh says, according to a post on Iran's state Al-Alam TV.
Hajizadeh adds that among the US facilities that would be targeted are structures in Bahrain, Qatar and Afghanistan.
"There will be no neutral country in the region," Hajizadeh says. "To us, these bases are equal to US soil."
Israeli officials continue to make a case that Iran is working towards obtaining a nuclear warhead and have repeatedly pleaded with the United States to intervene, but Iranian authorities insist that any research being done is for peaceful purposes.
Earlier this month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "Those in the international community who refuse to put red lines before Iran don't have a moral right to place a red light before Israel,” and once more pressured US President Barack Obama to announce America’s cooperation in an attack against Iran.
Although President Obama refused to intervene at this time, over the weekend he told CBS’ 60 Minutes news program that he understands Israel’s plea but must put the national security of the US first above their ally’s request.
“When it comes to our national security decisions — any pressure that I feel is simply to do what’s right for the American people. And I am going to block out—any noise that’s out there. Now I feel an obligation, not pressure but obligation, to make sure that we’re in close consultation with the Israelis — on these issues. Because it affects them deeply. They’re one of our closest allies in the region. And we’ve got an Iranian regime that has said horrible things that directly threaten Israel’s existence,” the president told 60 Minutes.
On Monday, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad commented on the conflict from the United Nations headquarters in New York City, refusing to call Israel by name and rejecting their warnings.
"Fundamentally we do not take seriously the threats of the Zionists. … We have all the defensive means at our disposal and we are ready to defend ourselves," Ahmadinejad said.
"We don't even count them as any part of any equation for Iran. During a historical phase, they represent minimal disturbances that come into the picture and are then eliminated," the president added.
President Ahmadinejad had arrived in New York to participate in the UN General Assembly’s annual discussion for the last time as president, as Iranian rules forbid him from running for another term. He is not scheduled to deliver a speech until Wednesday, but ahead of that address he said he remains open for discussions with the United States.
"The nuclear issue is not a problem. But the approach of the United States on Iran is important. We are ready for dialogue, for a fundamental resolution of the problems, but under conditions that are based on fairness and mutual respect,” Ahmadinejad said.
"We are not expecting a 33-year-old problem between the United States and Iran to be resolved in a speedy fashion. But there is no other way besides dialogue.”

Staking kan petroltekort veroorsaak

2012-09-25 09:44

‘Vrystaat stort in duie’

2012-09-21 05:55

Iran would clobber Israel within 24 hours: Cmdr.

A regime [with a frontier] that in some spots is only 24 kilometers wide could have its back broken by one of our infantry battalions in 24 hours."
IRGC deputy commander, Brigadier General Hossein Salami

The deputy commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) says the Islamic Republic can annihilate the Zionist regime of Israel in 24 hours.

“A regime [with a frontier] that in some spots is only 24 kilometers wide could have its back broken by one of our infantry battalions in 24 hours,” Brigadier General Hossein Salami told an Iranian television station on Sunday.

“Our defense strategy assumption is that we would enter an all-out war with a US-led global coalition,” the general said, adding, “We have already identified the vital interests of the enemies and established an invasive power structure to destroy these vital interests.”

“We know that the enemy bases in the region, the security of the Zionist regime, energy supply security and protecting the life of enemy troops constitute the vital interest of the enemy,” General Salami noted.

“Our strategic doctrines are all defensive, but our tactics are invasive. It means that we do not initiate any war, but if anyone wages a war against us, we will counterattack incessantly and will not stop,” he warned adding, “The enemy could initiate a war, but its ending would be up to us”.

He also underscored the precision of IRGC-developed missiles, saying, “Our missiles are capable of targeting enemy bases in the region, at any range, with high destruction capabilities. We have mastered the knowledge of developing all modern missiles.”

Israel is stepping up threats of carrying out a unilateral strike against Iran’s nuclear energy facilities before the US presidential election on November 6. However, the US opposes any Israeli military action at the current juncture.

Israeli threats are based on the unsubstantiated claims that the peaceful nuclear activities of the Islamic Republic have been diverted to the acquisition of military nuclear capability.

The Iranian officials have promised a crushing response to any military strike against the country, warning that any such measure could result in a war that would spread beyond the Middle East.

Corrie Sanders. (Joyrene Kramer)

Ser.

Malema owes Sars sixteen million rand

The SA Revenue Service (Sars) has obtained a R16 million judgement against former ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema for unpaid taxes

The judgment was obtained in the High Court in Pretoria on September 11, City Press reported.
Malema did not oppose the application by Sars.
Sars spokesman Adrian Lackay confirmed the judgment against Malema for R16 million was obtained.
He told the newspaper the amount included unpaid taxes, penalties and interest.
Lackay said he could not give any more details of Malema's tax affairs because a "taxpayer's confidentiality is a legal obligation imposed on Sars".
According to the report Sars was about to seize Malema's property and assets in Gauteng and Limpopo.
Alan Lewis, a tax law consultant and advocate, told City Press the judgment showed two things: Malema had a "hell of a lot of money" and he was in deep trouble.
Lewis, a former Sars employee, said the revenue service would most likely hand the judgment to a sheriff of the court, who would attach Malema's properties and assets.
Sars started looking into Malema's tax affairs last year after it was revealed that he was linked to companies which had obtained lucrative contracts from the Limpopo provincial government.
Millions of rands were channelled through Malema's Ratanang Family Trust, according to the report.

Regering verwag groot stygings

Deur: Jan-Jan Joubert2012-09-22 05:55

KAAPSTAD.

Malema warrant is politically motivated – Magaqa

2012-09-22 17:17

The issuing of a warrant of arrest for expelled ANC Youth League President Julius Malema was politically motivated, former ANCYL secretary general Sindiso Magaqa said.

Magaqa, speaking in his capacity as a member of the Friends of the Youth League, told eNews Channel Africa (eNCA) today he did not know what charges Malema would face. He believed the charges were trumped up to serve political purposes.

“There is nothing substantive about these charges, these charges are brought to fight political battles in the ANC,” he said.

Malema’s allies were not shaken by the move, because they knew there was “an orchestrated campaign to silence him,” Magaqa said.

The timing of the warrant – two weeks before nominations are opened before the ANC elective conference in Mangaung and shortly after the Marikana shooting – raised suspicions about the intentions behind it. He said the youth would rally in support of Malema.

“Young people will react, young people will defend the leader that represents their interests.” Magaqa said the battle for economic liberation would not be stopped by the arrest warrant.

“We are focusing our programme. We will be in each and every mine, each and every society agitating people to liberate themselves so that at the end of the day their children will be economically liberated.”

Malema is expected to appear in a Polokwane court on Wednesday. eNCA said in an unsourced report that Malema would hand himself over to authorities on Wednesday. His attorney, Nicqui Galaktiou, could not immediately be reached to confirm this.

City Press reported yesterday that Malema faced charges of money laundering, corruption and fraud relating to his Ratanang Family Trust and its shareholding in On-Point Engineering, a company that allegedly made millions from Limpopo government tenders.

On Tuesday, Malema told reporters in Johannesburg if he was arrested, it would be done illegally. He said he was willing and ready to go to jail, and was not intimidated.

Oud-bokskampioen geskiet in rooftog by restaurant

“Die man was in baie pyn. Ek hoop hy is orraait.”

Malema’s lawyer confirms warrant

2012-09-21 14:10

Julius Malema’s lawyer has confirmed that a warrant for his arrest had been issued.

"We have received confirmation from the authorities that there is an arrest warrant issued for Mr Malema," Nicqui Galaktiou of Brian Kahn Attorneys told City Press.

She said they had not seen the warrant as yet but were busy discussing his court appearance next week with the authorities. Galaktiou said they were "likely to see the warrant after the weekend only".

City Press revealed earlier this afternoon that the arrest of the former ANC Youth League president
was imminent.

Malema is expected to appear in court in Pretoria or Polokwane next week on charges of money laundering, corruption and fraud.

The case relates to his Ratanang Family Trust and its shareholding in On-Point Engineering, a company that has made millions from Limpopo government tenders.

It was still unclear whether Malema would be jailed before he appears in court. His lawyers previously urged the National Prosecuting Authority and the Hawks not to arrest him but to tell him when and where to appear in court.

Malema reiterated this week that he would appear in court if charged.

He told City Press he had “not heard anything. I think if there is such a thing, I will be open about it,” he said.

A source close to Malema, however, confirmed that they had heard about it and were waiting for further details. “The law enforcement agencies know his address,” he said.

Malema said if he were charged, he didn’t know what he would be charged with. “So far we don’t know what is the issue, whether it is money laundering, fraud, corruption,” he said.

“I am not the first person to be arrested,” Malema said, adding that this had happened to politicians before and that charges were dropped. This is an apparent reference to President Jacob Zuma, who at the time believed there was a political plot to get rid of him through prosecution and corruption charges.

The NPA and Hawks have said they won’t comment on the arrest warrant.

NPA spokesperson Bulelwa Makeka said they don’t respond on arrest warrants and will only comment once an accused have appeared in court.

The Sexual Pathology of the Libyan Attackers

Soon after the terrorist attack that left four Americans dead in Libya, reports began coming in that U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens was not only murdered by the Muslim mob, but also sodomized both before and after his death, and his corpse dragged through the streets. This grotesque defilement was willfully suppressed by the mainstream media, who were focused like a laser on a much more horrific story: presidential candidate Mitt Romney talking like a conservative at a fundraiser. Thank goodness that in these difficult times we can count on the media to cover the news we really need to know.
As FrontPage Shillman Journalism Fellow Raymond Ibrahim writes,
Sexual abuse and degradation is a common tactic used against non-Muslims, especially women, as the repeatedly raped Lara Logan found… Nor are men immune from such rapes. In fact, the photos of Ambassador Stevens—stripped of clothes, bloodied and tortured right before he was killed—very much resemble the photos of Gaddafi right before he was killed. One U.S.-supported “freedom-fighter,” for example, can be seen sodomizing Gadaffi with a rod as others dragged him along.
Ibrahim finishes by noting that “the al-Qaeda affiliated men who sexually abused and killed Gaddafi are the same men who sexually abused and killed America’s ambassador.”
This revelation about the sexual denigration of the reportedly gay Ambassador Stevens raises several questions. First, when are so-called liberals going to shed the rose-tinted goggles of multiculturalism and get in touch with a righteous anger about a pathologically anti-gay, ragingly misogynist, mob culture that sexually violates and murders innocents?
When are American progressives, who whine about a mythical Republican War on Women, going to denounce this perverse sexual pathology in Arab culture? When are leftist academics, up in arms about the Bush administration’s enhanced interrogations of hardened terrorists, going to vent their fury against a culture that routinely commits sexual torture and mutilation?
Gay rights supporters work themselves into a lather over the Chick-Fil-A restaurant chain, which discriminates against neither gay employees nor gay customers. I suppose they’re unaware that most Arab and African nations walked out of an historic UN Human Rights Council debate on gay rights earlier this year, refusing to legitimize homosexuality. When are the “liberals” going to break their monastic silence about a theocratic culture that hangs gays from cranes, as in Iran, where President Ahmadinejad famously claimed they don’t have the problem of homosexuality there?
Obviously these are all rhetorical questions designed to underscore the left’s disgusting hypocrisy, because the answer to all of them is never. Breaking free of the mental bondage of multiculturalist indoctrination would cause the entire world view of leftists to come crashing down. They must cling to their delusion or risk a complete psychological meltdown.

Zimbabwean Anglican bishop calls for ‘war against the white man’

| September 21, 2012 |
Dr. Nolbert Kunonga
The Church of England Newspaper reports that the former Bishop of Harare, Dr. Nolbert Kunonga, has urged Zimbabwe strongman Robert Mugabe to expel the few remaining white farmers from their lands, telling a gathering of ZANU (PF) supporters that “Whites like other aliens should not be allowed to own land and other properties in the country as they are strangers.”
In an account of his sermon printed in The Zimbabwean, Dr. Kunonga said that he too had been engaged in a campaign of expropriating white-owned properties. “I took 3800 church properties in the region since their title deeds were in my name. There was no way the properties could remain under charge of the church controlled by whites and their black puppets. Bishops such as Julius Makoni, Chad Gandiwa and others are MDC-T and furthered western interests,” he said.
The controversial bishop, who was excommunicated by the Church of the Province of Central Africa after he quit the church to form his own Anglican Church of Zimbabwe, has waged a violent campaign of repression with the support of the security services against Anglicans who are loyal to the Bishop of Harare.
In 2011 the Archbishops of Canterbury, Central Africa, Southern Africa and Tanzania, along with local Anglican bishops, met with President Mugabe asking him to reassert the rule of law in Zimbabwe, and protect persecuted Anglicans from the depredations of Dr. Kunonga. The former bishop has been banned from travel to the U.S., the E.U. and the U.K. due to his complicity with the crimes of the Mugabe regime.
A long time supporter of the Zimbabwean president, Dr. Kunonga has campaigned against the opposition MDC party and its leader Morgan Tsvangirai. He told the gathering at the Dimbe Primary School near Marondera in Mashonaland East that MDC-T and “its western puppet, Morgan Tsvangirai, are agents of doom fighting to reverse the land reform programme and hand back land to the former colonial white masters.”
“Tsvangirai is a white man masked in black skin. He is like the Biblical Pharaoh who enjoyed the suffering and economic deprivation of his own people. On the other hand, Mugabe is the Biblical Daniel sent to suffer for the cause of his people,” said Dr. Kunonga.
The former bishop added that those who drive out white farmers, MDC supporters and foreigners from their lands “will enter the kingdom of God.”
“As Christians; we must gear ourselves for a bloody war against white interests,” he said.

Striking miner dragged under armoured car

Rustenburg - Police have killed two more people in a crackdown on striking miners, the Congress of SA Trade Unions and a strike leader said on Thursday.

Police said on Wednesday they fired rubber bullets, tear gas and stun grenades to break up a march by thousands of strikers at Amplats mines near Rustenburg belonging to Anglo American Platinum, the world's largest platinum producer.

Amplats strike leader Evans Ramokga told AP that a miner was run over by a police armoured car and dragged several metres before it stopped. He said the man died overnight in the hospital.

Police spokesperson Dennis Adriao said he was unaware of the incident but added the armoured cars weigh several tons.

Woman out shopping when struck by bullet

Cosatu condemned the brutality of police who have been harshly criticised for the August 16 shootings of 112 striking miners that left 34 dead at Lonmin platinum mine.

The trade union federation said ANC councillor Paulina Masuhlo was shopping on Saturday near the Never Die Tavern in Wonderkop where Lonmin miners.

Police began firing from a speeding armoured car and hit several women.

Masuhlo was hit in the abdomen and leg and rushed to the hospital, where she died on Wednesday, Cosatu said.

Police spokesperson Dennis Adriao said he was investigating the report of a death. He said police had reported to the Independent Police Investigative Directorate that several people were hit by rubber bullets in a raid to disarm strikers on Saturday, the day after the government ordered a crackdown.

The directorate already has opened 34 murder and 78 attempted murder charges against police.

But no action has been taken against any of the officers involved. The government has said it is awaiting the outcome of a judicial commission of inquiry that is supposed to report to the president in January.

47 dead

Cosatu called for "the immediate identification and suspension of the police officers involved in [Masuhlo's] murder".

"We are also extremely unhappy that, to date, none of the police officers involved in the massacre on 16 August 2012 has been identified or suspended - this is totally unacceptable and unlawful," Cosatu said.

The deaths at the two mines, both northwest of Johannesburg, bring the toll to 47 dead in violent strikes rooted in union rivalry.

Lonmin on Tuesday resolved its five-week strike by agreeing to pay raises of up to 22%.

Union leaders warned that sets a precedent for other miners to join demands for better wages.

The strike already has spread to several gold, platinum and chrome mines, damaging investor confidence in the country that produces 75% of world platinum and is the No 4 chrome producer and in the top 10 of gold producers.

Soldiers protest at Oudtshoorn base

Johannesburg - A picket was held outside the SA National Defence Force (SANDF) base in Oudtshoorn on Wednesday, with members of the SA National Defence Union (Sandu) protesting over conditions at the base, the union said.

Spokesperson Pikkie Greeff said the union was holding a peaceful picket because the military had failed to respond to concerns related to "dire management practices" allegedly taking place at the base.

In a statement, he claimed there had been no investigation into recent deaths at the base, or if they had been investigated, the results had not been made public.

In August, a woman recruit committed suicide at the base. At the time Sandu claimed the suicide note made reference to humiliation by base management.

Picket organisers face arrest

SANDF spokesperson Brigadier General Xolani Mabanga criticised the union for "trying to gain popularity [by] using the death of a person".

"I don't know where they got it that this investigation would be made public, or the timeline."

Greeff said the organisers of the picket were threatened with military arrest.

"He [the commanding officer] has even taken the ridiculous step of unlawfully ordering all members at his base that they are prohibited from attending any Sandu meeting outside working hours and outside the military base...

"By issuing these illegal orders and clamping down with power abuse on constitutional rights, Sandu's complaints about the Oudtshoorn base [are] simply being justified."

Mabanga said any threat to security at an SANDF base would be dealt with.

"If anybody comes close to any SANDF institution to picket or toyi-toyi we will deal with those issues."

Bound by the rules

He warned soldiers not to allow themselves to be misled.

"They themselves volunteered to join the SANDF, and when they joined they committed themselves to the rules that govern the SANDF members."

These were the Constitution, the Defence Act, the Military Supplementary Discipline Matters Act, and the Code of Conduct.

They were also bound by any other department of defence policy, as well as the SANDF's directives and instructions.

"Taking into consideration the social and economic situation in South Africa and the high rate of unemployment, [there are] people - individuals and unions - trying to gain popularity... and trying to mislead South Africans.
"People must not try to incite or mobilise [soldiers] or undermine military discipline and the authority of the SANDF."

Last Wednesday, expelled ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema met with around 60 soldiers at the Lenasia Recreation Centre in Johannesburg.

There he criticised the country's political leadership and accused them of ignoring the needs of SANDF members, including not reinstating the hundreds of soldiers put on special leave for protesting at the Union Buildings in 2009.

In my geestesoog probeer ek my indink die worstelstryd van die oom of tannie of boer of vrou of kinders nadat die moordenaars in hul moordorgies met hul aanvalle begin het.
